In the 13th minute Dario Alegría shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pankracy Zawacki saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. When Aron Ghinescu came up free with the goalie in the 16th minute, the Meerkats FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Aron Ghinescu couldn't finish the play. Walmyr Salles who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 17thth minute tested the skills of Pankracy Zawacki when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Dario Alegría in the 18th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pankracy Zawacki prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After a defensive mix-up in AVAÍ F.C.'s zone, Alfred Coleiro stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jailson Teles came out of the goal and Alfred Coleiro tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The supporters of AVAÍ F.C. booed when Meerkats FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Alfred Coleiro didn't get a good kick on the ball. The crowd rose to their feet as Dario Alegría kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Pankracy Zawacki. That made the score 1-1 in the 23 minute of play. In the 25th minute Dario Alegría shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pankracy Zawacki saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Walmyr Salles had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 29th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Jailson Teles took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Ildefonso Fliz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 38th minute Ildefonso Fliz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jailson Teles saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Aron Ghinescu hit a great freekick 43 minutes into the match. With an all-out effort, AVAÍ F.C.'s Pankracy Zawacki threw himself towards the right post 44 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Dario Alegría, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. After 46 played minutes Meerkats FC got a freekick which was hit by Nikolai Gonzi.
