In the 13th minute, Carlos Carioca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Adelino Macedo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Felix Montenegro in the 18th minute of the match. América-SC F.C.'s Adelino Macedo played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 30th minute of play. When Daniel Zorita, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 33 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Adelino Macedo was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Adelino Macedo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Felix Montenegro, who was totally free with the ball in the 35th minute. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 36th minute. Adelino Macedo tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Cristian Sancho struck a weak shot in the 38th minute. Adelino Macedo didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Luis Andino blasted a shot towards the goal in the 39th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Adelino Macedo having to make a save. After some careless play in the América-SC F.C. defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Adelino Macedo. The América-SC F.C. fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Adelino Macedo should have stopped the shot. When José Pedro de Moraes came up free with the goalie in the 43rd minute, the América-SC F.C. fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that José Pedro de Moraes couldn't finish the play. Agustín Saelices kicked well hit freekick during the 44th minute of the match. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-3.

Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 66th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Adelino Macedo in the 69th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Adelino Macedo was out of position in the 71 minute of play, and Cristian Sancho capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. When the match had gone on for 87 minutes, Agustín Saelices took a quick shot and it went in 0-8 without a chance for Adelino Macedo to make any attempt to save it. América-SC F.C.'s Adelino Macedo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 95th minute of the match, managed to save América-SC F.C. from getting a goal against them.
