The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Anderson Trigo in the 67th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. With a little luck, Fae Folgore's Anderson Trigo got control of the ball when Cristian Sancho tried to sneak it across the goal line. After taking down the ball on Ecuador's corner Daniel Zorita fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Anderson Trigo quite easily take care of the ball. Julio Vera didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Marco Fabelo went, in the 88th minute, to the upper right corner, 3-1 was the resulting score. Anderson Trigo made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Luis Andino sent off a good shot on target. After 93 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Agustín Saelices. With 95 minutes on the clock, Antonio Arias commited a dangerous tackle. The referee had no choice but to show him the red card. In a very dangerous position, a player in Ecuador fell when an opponent tried to get the ball from him in the 94th minute. Penalty! Ecuador's players left the field with heads hung low after losing a match that had been finely balanced throughout.
