Peru's Eliseo Mina managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Arrigo Tonon in the 27 minute of the game. Rolando Noboa was a little too slow when Henning Strömqvist got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 30th minute. The score was now 1-1.
