Spectators: 41 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 9, VIP seats: 0) Toma Spasunov started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. Ivan Zafirov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 9th minute. Jacobo Nores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Paraguay booed when VfB Stuttgart was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 13 match minutes in a wonderful position. Toma Spasunov didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 14 minutes, Hector Covarrubias managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Paraguay's supporters crossed their fingers, but Hector Covarrubias was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mantas Plingis took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Jaime Pardo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Rio Darwis struck a weak shot in the 17th minute. Jacobo Nores didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for VfB Stuttgart. In the 20thth minute of the game Jaime Pardo who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but VfB Stuttgart's Mantas Plingis was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. When Paraguay's Jaime Pardo in the 20th minute got a chance for a shot 20th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye VfB Stuttgart's goalie prevented a goal. In the 23rd match minute, VfB Stuttgart was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Menad Zahouania to maneuver through the defense. Mantas Plingis showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Jaime Pardo in the 25th minute of the match. After 26 minutes VfB Stuttgart's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Jaime Pardo who took care of the corner kick. Ivan Zafirov received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 29th minute. Jacobo Nores tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Hector Covarrubias during the 35th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Hector Covarrubias hit a great freekick 35 minutes into the match. In the 36th minute of the match, Toma Spasunov tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Jacobo Nores saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. With an all-out effort, VfB Stuttgart's Jacobo Nores threw himself towards the right post 40 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Toma Spasunov, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. VfB Stuttgart's Mantas Plingis played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Jaime Pardo in the 42nd minute of play. In the 42nd minute, Jaime Pardo ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Mantas Plingis was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-1.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Jaime Pardo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Jaime Pardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 58th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mantas Plingis having to interfere. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Hector Covarrubias managed to get in a good position for a shot. Paraguay's supporters rose to their feet, but Hector Covarrubias was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Mantas Plingis breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After a defensive mix-up in Paraguay's zone, Ivan Zafirov stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jacobo Nores came out of the goal and Ivan Zafirov tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. A collision led to Paraguay getting a freekick after 66 minutes play. Primitivo Escribano hit a great ball. Toma Spasunov recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 67th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 70th minute Ivan Zafirov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacobo Nores saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. 72 minutes into the match, VfB Stuttgart's goalkeeper Mantas Plingis had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Hector Covarrubias. Mantas Plingis showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Hector Covarrubias, who was totally free with the ball in the 74th minute. Jaime Pardo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 80th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Mantas Plingis having to interfere. In the 84th minute Toma Spasunov shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jacobo Nores saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Jaime Pardo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 94th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead.
