Regimantas Šileikis fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. In the 21st minute of the match Karl-Michael Bremming shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 24th minute of play forced FC Alytus United's goalkeeper Daugirdas Burokas to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Daugirdas Burokas didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Cristian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Daugirdas Burokas tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 30th minute, Regimantas Šileikis hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a defensive mix-up in FC Alytus United's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Daugirdas Burokas came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Daniel Zorita kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Daugirdas Burokas. That made the score 2-0 in the 31 minute of play. 37 minutes into the game, Daavid Šembera cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Julio Vera was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 42nd minute, Lauras Normantas made a precise shot to the right of Julio Vera. Ecuador's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 2-2. If Lauras Normantas had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 45th minute. The ball went over the crossbar instead. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Lauras Normantas made the kick off in the second half. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Daugirdas Burokas read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 57th minute of play. Cafu Antunes's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Cafu Antunes helped the player get up and apologised. After 59 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for FC Alytus United! In the 61st minute of the match, Regimantas Šileikis tried to roll the ball into the goal by the right post, but Julio Vera saw his intentions and got control of the ball before it passed the line. 66 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Daavid Šembera. Karl-Michael Bremming's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 71st minute of play. FC Alytus United's Daavid Šembera got a good chance for a goal in the 75th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Julio Vera made a fantastic save in the 78th minute, when Tauras Wijnaldum sent off a good shot on target. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 81st minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Saulius Inzaghi kicked well hit freekick during the 84th minute of the match. Cristian Sancho took the ball and in the 85 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Daugirdas Burokas. Daugirdas Burokas dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 3-2. Daugirdas Burokas showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Agustín Saelices, who was totally free with the ball in the 93rd minute. Although Ecuador had been in control for most of the match, FC Alytus United still came away with the win.
