Pikanate Savetvet didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Honduras. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edmundo Espiga in the 5th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Pikanate Savetvet prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 6 played minutes Honduras got a freekick which was hit by Sebastian Villa. 7 minutes into the game, Knattspyrnufélag Akureyri's Artemio Bernal nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Lautaro Navarro made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. After some fancy dribbling in the 10th minute, Edmundo Espiga managed to get in a good position for a shot. Honduras's supporters rose to their feet, but Edmundo Espiga was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Pikanate Savetvet breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Through an outstanding action, after 16 minutes, Lautaro Navarro successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. When the match had gone on for 17 minutes, Wachirawit Kongpetch took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Lautaro Navarro to make any attempt to save it. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edmundo Espiga in the 22nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Pikanate Savetvet saved Knattspyrnufélag Akureyri from getting behind. An unexpected shot in the 24th minute by Sirikiat Waiyarup got the crowd on their feet, but to their dismay it went out on the left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Artemio Bernal kicked a wonderful shot that went in to the left of a diving Lautaro Navarro. That made the score 3-0 in the 29 minute of play. Lautaro Navarro was out of position in the 38 minute of play, and Artemio Bernal capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Artemio Bernal really showed his touch with that goal: 4-0. Lautaro Navarro came out of the goal in the 41st minute to try and stop a shot by Knattspyrnufélag Akureyri's Domenec Cediel. But to his dismay, Domenec Cediel quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 5-0. In the 45th minute, Artemio Bernal got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Af the end of the first half the score was 5-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

After 51 minutes, Thosapol Laksanapiya mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Knattspyrnufélag Akureyri and the Honduras players grew even worse after the yellow card. After a rather tough play, Knattspyrnufélag Akureyri's Thosapol Laksanapiya got a free kick in the 51st minute. Wachirawit Kongpetch sent away a hard shot on goal in the 53rd minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Knattspyrnufélag Akureyri's Thosapol Laksanapiya got his second yellow card of the match in the 54th minute. The referee ordered Thosapol Laksanapiya off the ground. In the 55th minute, Thosapol Laksanapiya hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Pikanate Savetvet took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Edmundo Espiga, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Honduras's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Edmundo Espiga in the 61st minute. After taking down the ball on Honduras's corner Moises Tafalla fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Pikanate Savetvet quite easily take care of the ball. When the match clock showed 61 minutes, the score became 5-1 when Moises Tafalla sped through Knattspyrnufélag Akureyri's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Pikanate Savetvet. 67 minutes into the match, Domenec Cediel notched a goal, 6-1, to the right of Honduras's Lautaro Navarro. Lautaro Navarro was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. In the 71st minute Edmundo Espiga shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Pikanate Savetvet saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Sebastian Villa sent away a hard shot on goal in the 81st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After a rather tough play, Honduras's Emanuel Ocampo got a free kick in the 84th minute. Edmundo Espiga made a great header on Honduras's corner, it was just that Knattspyrnufélag Akureyri's Pikanate Savetvet managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 95th minute of the match Honduras got a corner. Knattspyrnufélag Akureyri's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Edmundo Espiga ran over to the corner to take the kick. For all the effort they put into the match, the Honduras players left disappointed. They had fought hard, but couldn't break down the home team's defense. The match ended in a win for Knattspyrnufélag Akureyri.
