With an all-out effort, Ecuador's Gaudencio Gervaso threw himself towards the right post 16 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Luis Andino, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. In the 18th minute of the match Ecuador got a corner. Onagoity AFC's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Daniel Zorita ran over to the corner to take the kick. The corner led Ecuador's Luis Andino to fire away a dangerous shot which Gaudencio Gervaso despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Agustín Saelices received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 18th minute. Gaudencio Gervaso tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Gaudencio Gervaso in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Nestor Hug managed to get in a good position for a shot. Onagoity AFC's supporters rose to their feet, but Nestor Hug was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Julio Vera breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Gaudencio Gervaso made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 27th minute. Luis Andino sent away a hard shot on goal in the 29th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. The wind increased when Nestor Hug made the kick off in the second half. 54 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Nestor Hug. Onagoity AFC's Gaudencio Gervaso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 60th minute of play. 66 minutes into the match, Onagoity AFC's goal looked a bit too open when Cristian Sancho came free, but Gaudencio Gervaso reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 69th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Nestor Hug in the 71st managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. A throw-in in the 75th minute of the game was made by Camilo Gisbert with Luis Andino as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. Onagoity AFC's Gaudencio Gervaso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 76th minute of play. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Nestor Hug, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 81stth minute of the game Felix Montenegro who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Onagoity AFC's Gaudencio Gervaso was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. Gaudencio Gervaso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 82nd minute of play. Luis Andino kicked well hit freekick during the 85th minute of the match. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-1.
