Match Report
Estadio Centenario
Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35,
Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Dark clouds were building up when the players entered the field. None of the them looked very eager to play. Francisco Seco started the match with the kick off. 6 minutes into the game, Mateo Palacio cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-1. Joaquin Gayoso was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Czeslaw Pawlak in the 11th minute of play. Mateo Palacio struck a weak shot in the 18th minute. Joaquin Gayoso didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Zjem Cię. Francisco Seco's shot straight on target was not completely harmless. The ball had pretty good speed, but Napoleon Jajko firmly grabbed it by the left post. 21 minutes had been played when some careless play by Zjem Cię's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jaime Cazalla was slow to take the kick. During this time Uruguay's players had a chance to rest. Czeslaw Pawlak fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 25th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Joaquin Gayoso having to interfere. 30 minutes into the match, Zjem Cię's Mateo Palacio sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Joaquin Gayoso narrowly saved just below the crossbar. The supporters of Uruguay booed when Zjem Cię was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 33 match minutes in a wonderful position. Cyprian Cwojdak didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Uruguay's zone, Czeslaw Pawlak stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Joaquin Gayoso came out of the goal and Czeslaw Pawlak tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Jim Morrison in the 39th minute of play. 42 minutes into the match, Olgierd Cempa notched a goal, 0-3, to the right of Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso. Joaquin Gayoso was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. After 46 minutes of play, the referee blew the whistle. It was a penalty for Uruguay! The referee gave Zjem Cię a penalty, 49 minutes into the game. The penalty shot was made by Mateo Palacio, who made a well placed shot into the net to the right of Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso. 0-4. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-4 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.
The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Mateo Palacio stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Mateo Palacio did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-5 to the left of a surprised Joaquin Gayoso 57 minutes into the match. If Mateo Palacio had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 60th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Zjem Cię's Murillo Cedeno was substituted for Iwo Cwynar. Zjem Cię's Cyprian Cwojdak managed, thanks to a brazen rush, stole the ball on a throw-in made by Camilo Franco in the 69 minute of the game. In the 73rdth minute of the game Maximiliano Escribano who was perfectly placed tried to make a shot on goal, but Zjem Cię's Napoleon Jajko was lucky and managed to grab hold of the ball. After a rather tough play, Zjem Cię's Ciriaco Emenon got a free kick in the 73rd minute. A hard shot 79 in the game by Mateo Palacio from a close distance when the talented Joaquin Gayoso managed to make a qualified save. Uruguay's players were relieved. Jaime Cazalla made a great header on Uruguay's corner, it was just that Zjem Cię's Napoleon Jajko managed to reach the ball for a save. In the 87th minute Mateo Palacio shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. A collision led to Uruguay getting a freekick after 89 minutes play. Jorge Sainz hit a great ball. After some fancy dribbling in the 90th minute, Ciriaco Emenon managed to get in a good position for a shot. Zjem Cię's supporters rose to their feet, but Ciriaco Emenon was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Joaquin Gayoso breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 97 minutes into the match, Francisco Seco had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Napoleon Jajko. Zjem Cię's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Francisco Seco was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 1-7. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Zjem Cię walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
