In the 13th minute, Agustín Saelices ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Eraldo Bulla was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-3. In the 16th minute, Davide La Marca hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. 18 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Davide La Marca came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. As Melfi 1929's Stelian Popeangă was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Julio Vera in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. As Melfi 1929's Eraldo Bulla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 21st minute of play. Eraldo Bulla made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 24th minute of play. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 79th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Eraldo Bulla having to interfere. Napoleon Walaszkiewicz scored 1-6 in the 83rd match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Julio Vera, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 86 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Luis Andino sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eraldo Bulla narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Domenico Corna hit a great freekick 96 minutes into the match. Agustín Saelices sent away a hard shot on goal in the 97th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
