Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Fabien Canu ran back to his position shaking his head. Uruguay's Joaquin Gayoso played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabien Canu in the 3rd minute of play. Cedric Van Langhendoncx made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Francisco Seco in the 9th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Uruguay's Arturo Carvallo got a free kick in the 12th minute. Lunar Park's Carlos Taillade couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 14th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Uruguay. Joaquin Gayoso was in the perfect position, and the defense had done a good job marking him, but Fabien Canu showcased his skills and made a perfect shot to score 1-0 in the 16 minute of play. When the match had gone on for 24 minutes, Fabien Canu took a quick shot and it went in 2-0 without a chance for Joaquin Gayoso to make any attempt to save it. In the 28th minute, Yazid Larnicol fired away a shot on goal. He put a little to much spin on the ball and sent it just wide of the right post. 30 minutes in the game, Fabien Canu fired away an excellent shot, which passed to the side of the right post without Joaquin Gayoso having to interfere. The supporters of Uruguay booed when Lunar Park was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 31 match minutes in a wonderful position. Yazid Larnicol didn't get a good kick on the ball. A sloppy throw-in by Jorge Sainz in the 33rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Lunar Park's Carlos Taillade. Joaquin Gayoso took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Fabien Canu, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The crowd rose to their feet as Lunar Park's Fabien Canu slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Joaquin Gayoso. That made the score 3-0 after 36 minutes of play. When the match clock showed 39 minutes, the score became 4-0 when Fabien Canu sped through Uruguay's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. With his leg Joaquin Gayoso managed to avoid a goal in the 43rdth minute, when Lunar Park's Fabien Canu fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Francisco Seco to make the kick off. Alberto Gisbert charged in rather forcefully in the 53rd minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Alberto Gisbert the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. Alberto Gisbert hit a great freekick 53 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Fabien Canu in the 56th minute of play forced Uruguay's goalkeeper Joaquin Gayoso to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 58 minutes into the match, Fabien Canu had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. Uruguay's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Fabien Canu was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 5-0. Lunar Park's Claude Ciron got a good chance for a goal in the 60th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Joaquin Gayoso made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Fabien Canu in the 65th minute of play. In the 67th minute, Francisco Seco hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 68th minute Fabien Canu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Joaquin Gayoso saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 70th minute, Fabien Canu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joaquin Gayoso was frozen by the shot and now it was 6-0. 75 minutes into the game, Lunar Park's Fabien Canu nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Joaquin Gayoso made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 7-0. Joaquin Gayoso showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Fabien Canu, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. In the 82nd minute, Fabien Canu ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Joaquin Gayoso was frozen by the shot and now it was 8-0. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Fabien Canu couldn't finish the play. In the 92nd minute, Carlos Taillade hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. With an all-out effort, Uruguay's Cedric Van Langhendoncx threw himself towards the right post 93 minutes into the match and grabbed hold of the ball from Maximiliano Escribano, which otherwise would have been placed in the net. Cedric Van Langhendoncx showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Maximiliano Escribano, who was totally free with the ball in the 95th minute. The Lunar Park support was delighted with a win in a match that could easily have ended differently.
