The audience thought a goal was coming when Pastor Baraquiel got free with Julio Vera in the 3rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 4 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Ricardinho Trigo was slow to take the kick. During this time Pendotiba's players had a chance to rest. Ricardinho Trigo made a great header on Pendotiba's corner, it was just that Ecuador's Julio Vera managed to reach the ball for a save. A collision led to Pendotiba getting a freekick after 6 minutes play. Eusébio da Costa hit a great ball. Pastor Baraquiel struck a weak shot in the 9th minute. Julio Vera didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Pendotiba. Daniel Zorita recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 13th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Pastor Baraquiel might have been able to make a better finish in the 21st minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Julio Vera. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Pastor Baraquiel ran back to his position shaking his head. Kuno Heiberg showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. Daniel Zorita took the ball and in the 28 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Kuno Heiberg. Kuno Heiberg dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-2. 34 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Pastor Baraquiel came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After having played for 37 minutes, Daniel Zorita managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Daniel Zorita was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. If Ricardinho Trigo had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 46th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The Pendotiba players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Ecuador were winning 0-2.

The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Pastor Baraquiel to strike the kick off in the second half. A collision led to Pendotiba getting a freekick after 52 minutes play. After 79 minutes of play, Pendotiba's Pastor Baraquiel made it 1-2 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Julio Vera was left in no man's land by his defense there! Pastor Baraquiel received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 83rd minute. Julio Vera tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. A throw-in in the 85th minute of the game was made by Camilo Gisbert with Luis Andino as target, who quickly passed the ball forward. After 87 minutes, Camilo Gisbert mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Ecuador and the Pendotiba players grew even worse after the yellow card. Camilo Gisbert kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Kuno Heiberg made an important save on a dangerous shot by Luis Andino in the 90th minute. 91 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Ecuador's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Pendotiba the free kick. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 91 minutes play.
