Benedito Trigo made a fantastic save in the 18th minute, when Julian Murillo sent off a good shot on target. The audience thought a goal was coming when Julian Murillo got free with Benedito Trigo in the 24th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 25th minute of the match Peru got a corner. Sagarana Clube's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Luz Tejedor ran over to the corner to take the kick. If Milagros Fraga had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 27th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. The corner ended in Eliseo Mina almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Sagarana Clube's Benedito Trigo did a great save. The supporters of Peru booed when Sagarana Clube was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 40 match minutes in a wonderful position. Éder Madureira didn't get a good kick on the ball.
