Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Raul Leal took the kick off in the first half of the match. Abílio Passos recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 3rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mehmet Ferit İsmet in the 5th minute of play. Thanks to some nice moves Abílio Passos could shoot a difficult shot in the 7th minute, which Julio Vera however easily saved by the left post. After a defensive mix-up in SC Freiburg 09's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ivo Guterres came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Cristian Sancho might have been able to make a better finish in the 10th minute when he tried to place a hard shot over Ivo Guterres. Instead the ball went over the crossbar and out. Cristian Sancho ran back to his position shaking his head. Ivo Guterres came out of the goal in the 11th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Cristian Sancho. But to his dismay, Cristian Sancho quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. 15 minutes into the match, SC Freiburg 09's goal looked a bit too open when Agustín Saelices came free, but Ivo Guterres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Ecuador's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Daniel Zorita in the 16th minute. SC Freiburg 09's Ivo Guterres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 19th minute of play. An unexpectedly hard shot by Daniel Zorita in the 33rd minute of play forced SC Freiburg 09's goalkeeper Ivo Guterres to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. After 33 played minutes SC Freiburg 09 got a freekick which was hit by Mehmet Ferit İsmet. The supporters of Ecuador booed when SC Freiburg 09 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 34 match minutes in a wonderful position. Nuno Bragança didn't get a good kick on the ball. An unexpectedly hard shot by Raul Leal in the 37th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Mehmet Ferit İsmet hit a great freekick 45 minutes into the match. Juan Sebastián Puig's late challenge caught a SC Freiburg 09's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Juan Sebastián Puig helped the player get up and apologised. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Juan Sebastián Puig got a free kick in the 46th minute. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Raul Leal in the 47th minute of play. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-1. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

Ivo Guterres made a fantastic save in the 53rd minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Julio Vera came out of the goal in the 58th minute to try and stop a shot by SC Freiburg 09's Raul Leal. But to his dismay, Raul Leal quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. Abílio Passos took the ball and in the 60 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Julio Vera. Julio Vera dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-2. After some fancy dribbling in the 63rd minute, Nuno Bragança managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Freiburg 09's supporters rose to their feet, but Nuno Bragança was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post.
