Spectators: 43 (Terracing: 33, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nuno Bragança in the 3rd minute of play. After a defensive mix-up in SC Freiburg 09's zone, Joel Gaona stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Ivo Guterres came out of the goal and Joel Gaona tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. 10 minutes into the match, Joel Gaona had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Ivo Guterres. SC Freiburg 09's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Joel Gaona was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. SC Freiburg 09's Ivo Guterres played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 13th minute of play. After a rather tough play, SC Freiburg 09's Nuno Bragança got a free kick in the 14th minute. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Raul Leal, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. After some fancy dribbling in the 25th minute, Abílio Passos managed to get in a good position for a shot. SC Freiburg 09's supporters rose to their feet, but Abílio Passos was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Dante Lacasa breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 27 minutes into the match, Mexico's goal looked a bit too open when Raul Leal came free, but Dante Lacasa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 32nd minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivo Guterres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dante Lacasa didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Nuno Bragança went, in the 34th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. 39 minutes into the match, SC Freiburg 09's goal looked a bit too open when Joel Gaona came free, but Ivo Guterres reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. In the 41st minute Lautaro Mancebo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivo Guterres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 42nd minute Nuno Bragança shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

The wind increased when Joel Gaona made the kick off in the second half. After having played for 54 minutes, Lautaro Mancebo managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Mexico's supporters crossed their fingers, but Lautaro Mancebo was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. In the 56th minute Abílio Passos shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Ivo Guterres came out of the goal in the 58th minute to try and stop a shot by Mexico's Joel Gaona. But to his dismay, Joel Gaona quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 1-2. In the 65th minute, Joel Gaona fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Ivo Guterres, passed just outside the right post. The supporters of Mexico booed when SC Freiburg 09 was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 73 match minutes in a wonderful position. Abílio Passos didn't get a good kick on the ball. 74 minutes into the game, Serafim Garcez was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. SC Freiburg 09's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Mexico the free kick. After 75 played minutes SC Freiburg 09 got a freekick which was hit by Serafim Garcez. In the 76th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ivo Guterres saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Nuno Bragança recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 78th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Ivo Guterres made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 80th minute of play. In the 80th minute, Joel Gaona ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Ivo Guterres was frozen by the shot and now it was 1-3. The supporters of SC Freiburg 09 booed when Mexico was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Facundo Cadaval didn't get a good kick on the ball. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Abílio Passos, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 94th match minute, Mexico was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Macos Graciani to maneuver through the defense.
