Uruguay's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Joaquin Sendoa was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. When the match clock showed 20 minutes, the score became 0-2 when Cristiano Santirso sped through Uruguay's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Joaquin Gayoso. Joaquin Gayoso showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristiano Santirso in the 25th minute of the match. The supporters of Uruguay booed when The Arquitect was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 27 match minutes in a wonderful position. Connie Springer didn't get a good kick on the ball. Jaime Cazalla hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match.
