The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Lautaro Navarro showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Özdemir Kutlualp, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. A sloppy throw-in by Binali Bakır in the 33rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Honduras's Sebastian Villa. Hakan Derim could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Lautaro Navarro made a huge save. If Gürel Kamver had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 40th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Edmundo Espiga was probably a little too eager to shoot when he, in the 43rd played minute, shot the ball from way out. The shot was hard, but the ball flew wide of the goal. Sebastian Villa hit a great freekick 44 minutes into the match. Christian Sancho received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 47th minute. Ahmet Hayri Tüzeman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. After a very even first half the match was still tied. The players went to their respective dressing rooms to discuss the tactics for the second half.

An unexpectedly hard shot by Özdemir Kutlualp in the 78th minute of play forced Honduras's goalkeeper Lautaro Navarro to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 96th minute Sebastian Villa shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Ahmet Hayri Tüzeman saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. ST Lions FC succeeded in salvaging a draw, even though Honduras had controlled the match.
