The sun was shining, the grass was green and the audience cheered when Luisito Antequera got the match started through his kick off. In the 6th minute, Bogdan Blănaru hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Ronaldo Medeiros having to interfere. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Olavo Matorin in the 10th minute of play. A collision led to Montevideo getting a freekick after 11 minutes play. Natanael de Godoi hit a great ball. Rigoberto Mina kicked well hit freekick during the 13th minute of the match. Jonathan Ferrant was in exellent shape and made a fantastic save when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to get hold of the ball after a long shot from Wilson Fernandez. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Bray McJon in the 16th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Jonathan Ferrant prevented the ball from getting in the gole. In the 21st minute Bray McJon shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. If Luisito Antequera had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 22nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 24 minutes into the game, Montevideo's Luisito Antequera nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Jonathan Ferrant made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 1-0. Jonathan Ferrant made a fantastic save in the 29th minute, when Olavo Matorin sent off a good shot on target. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Bray McJon in the 31st minute of play. Montevideo's Ronaldo Medeiros played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Tomas Illescas in the 32nd minute of play. When the match clock showed 35 minutes, the score became 2-0 when Luisito Antequera sped through Venezuela's defense and sent away a curving shot that went into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. If Bray McJon had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 39th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. In the 44th minute, Luisito Antequera ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Jonathan Ferrant was frozen by the shot and now it was 3-0. In the 46th match minute, Montevideo was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Fernandão Recife to maneuver through the defense.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Luisito Antequera took the ball and in the 53 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 4-0. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Luisito Antequera, who was totally free with the ball in the 59th minute. After 60 minutes, Camilo Gaos mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Venezuela and the Montevideo players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 60th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Camilo Gaos to maneuver through the defense. 66 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Bray McJon came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The supporters of Venezuela booed when Montevideo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 68 match minutes in a wonderful position. Christian Passos didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 71 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jonathan Venegas. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Fernandão Recife in the 72nd minute of the match. 77 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Olavo Matorin came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Montevideo were awarded a corner in the 79th minute after Venezuela's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Wilson Fernandez took the corner. The corner led Montevideo's Wilson Fernandez to fire away a dangerous shot which Jonathan Ferrant despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. Patricio Costa received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Ronaldo Medeiros tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Bray McJon, who was totally free with the ball in the 83rd minute. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Luisito Antequera in the 87th minute of play. After some careless play in the Venezuela defense, Christian Passos kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. The Venezuela fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Jonathan Ferrant should have stopped the shot. Tomas Illescas's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Ronaldo Medeiros read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 95th minute of play. Montevideo walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
