He then quickly gripped the ball tighter before the forwards in Catugi FC reached it. Venezuela's defense didn't have a chance, in the 6th minute, when Carlos Alberto Soares scored to the left of an out of position Jonathan Ferrant, making the score, 1-0. In the 10th minute of the match Catugi FC got a corner. Venezuela's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Benjamim Alvarenga ran over to the corner to take the kick. Reko Nybacka showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 12th minute. 16 minutes had been played when some careless play by Venezuela's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Benjamim Alvarenga was slow to take the kick. During this time Catugi FC's players had a chance to rest. In the 22nd minute, Venezuela's Camilo Gaos seemed to kick out at an opponent. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Camilo Gaos the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Venezuela protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Camilo Gaos had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. 21 minutes into the game, one of Venezuela:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Jonathan Ferrant had in the 24thth minute some difficulties stopping Benjamim Alvarenga's well aimed penalty as it nearly passed him on his left side, but he still managed to hold the ball. Carlos Alberto Soares took the ball and in the 27 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Jonathan Ferrant. Jonathan Ferrant dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 2-0. Jonathan Ferrant showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Carlos Alberto Soares, who was totally free with the ball in the 30th minute. When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Carlos Alberto Soares made a kick off. The Catugi FC fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 3-0. Carlos Alberto Soares recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 58th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 60th match minute, Venezuela was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rigoberto Mina to maneuver through the defense. After a rather tough play, Venezuela's Jonathan Venegas got a free kick in the 61st minute. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Benjamim Alvarenga in the 62nd minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Walmir Pombal in the 65th minute of play. Jonathan Ferrant showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Carlos Alberto Soares in the 68th minute of the match. 70 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Carlos Alberto Soares came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Walmir Pombal came up free with the goalie in the 71st minute, the Catugi FC fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Walmir Pombal couldn't finish the play. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Carlos Alberto Soares in the 74th minute of play. Jaime França charged in rather forcefully in the 75th minute of the match, and managed to knock his opponent down. The referee showed Jaime França the yellow card, and asked the players to shake hands before continuing play. A collision led to Catugi FC getting a freekick after 75 minutes play. Jaime França hit a great ball. Tomas Illescas took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 76th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Reko Nybacka. Catugi FC's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. 79 minutes into the match, Catugi FC's Carlos Alberto Soares sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Jonathan Ferrant narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 80th minute, Benjamim Alvarenga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. The supporters of Catugi FC booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 82 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rigoberto Mina didn't get a good kick on the ball. After having played for 88 minutes, Carlos Alberto Soares managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Catugi FC's supporters crossed their fingers, but Carlos Alberto Soares was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. When the match had gone on for 91 minutes, Walmir Pombal put it in 4-0 from a short distance just to the right of Jonathan Ferrant. In the 95th minute Carlos Alberto Soares shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Jonathan Ferrant saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The supporters of Catugi FC booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 96 match minutes in a wonderful position. Jose Correa didn't get a good kick on the ball. After a defensive mix-up in Venezuela's zone, Carlos Alberto Soares stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Jonathan Ferrant came out of the goal and Carlos Alberto Soares tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Catugi FC walked away with a well-earned victory that was much celebrated by the crowd.
