In the 22nd minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Lu Hong Qiang saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lu Hong Qiang took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lu Hong Qiang showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 25th minute. A nice corner shot did that Daniel Zorita got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Lu Hong Qiang quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Mauro's Lu Hong Qiang played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 31st minute of play. Lu Hong Qiang showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 34th minute of the match. After having played for 47 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Even after changing tactics the home team jogged off the field with a 0-3 deficit. They would have to work harder if they wanted to turn things around in the second half.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. Mauro's Lu Hong Qiang played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agustín Saelices in the 52nd minute of play. Felix Montenegro struck a weak shot in the 54th minute. Lu Hong Qiang didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Cristian Sancho came free with the goalkeeper in the 55th minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Lu Hong Qiang could save by the left post. Thanks to some nice moves Daniel Zorita could shoot a difficult shot in the 57th minute, which Lu Hong Qiang however easily saved by the left post. Juan Sebastián Puig did some fancy footwork in front of goal and succeeded to deceive the defenders so he could slam the ball in 0-4 to the left of a surprised Lu Hong Qiang 59 minutes into the match. Lu Hong Qiang made an important save on a dangerous shot by Felix Montenegro in the 62nd minute. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a free kick in the 63rd minute. In the 64th match minute, Mauro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Teofil Bara to maneuver through the defense. Lu Hong Qiang made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 67th minute of play. In the 74th minute of the match, Daniel Zorita got a very nice opportunity to score, but Lu Hong Qiang was well-placed and pushed the ball away from the goal at the left post. The audience thought a goal was coming when Daniel Zorita got free with Lu Hong Qiang in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Stasio Przebendowski got his second yellow card in the match during the 86th minute which meant that he had to leave the ground. Stasio Przebendowski kicked well hit freekick during the 87th minute of the match. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 88th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. In the 89th match minute, Mauro was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Stefan Lundblad to maneuver through the defense. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Nicola Zalewski in the 91st minute of play. Miroslaw Lanczak kicked well hit freekick during the 94th minute of the match. The Mauro fans had already started to leave before the final whistle blew. Ecuador were clearly better and deserved to take the win.
