The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Efrain Moruga during the 4th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Per-Åke Aronsson was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. In the 11th minute Per-Åke Aronsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Dåsens IF's Jesus Dolfo proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 13th minute of the match, managed to save Dåsens IF from getting a goal against them. In the 15th minute Gunnar Abrahamsson shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Jesus Dolfo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Lautaro Puig, who was totally free with the ball in the 16th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 19th minute, Lautaro Puig managed to get in a good position for a shot. Costa Rica's supporters rose to their feet, but Lautaro Puig was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jesus Dolfo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Gunnar Abrahamsson kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. 24 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Iustinian Costeiantu came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Benito Sanz showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Gunnar Abrahamsson, who was totally free with the ball in the 27th minute. When Alan Moruga fell near the penalty area in the 44th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Costa Rica's protests and gave Alan Moruga a yellow card for diving instead. In the 44th minute, Alan Moruga hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 45th minute of the match Leif Söderqvist sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benito Sanz skillfully saved the ball.

The audience thought a goal was coming when Iustinian Costeiantu got free with Benito Sanz in the 78th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 80 minutes had been played when some careless play by Costa Rica's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Jan Hermansson was slow to take the kick. During this time Dåsens IF's players had a chance to rest. When Per-Åke Aronsson, who was free, got the in front of the goal in the 80 minute he wasn't focused and tipped the ball just over the goal. The Benito Sanz was delighted since the ball would have got in if it had gone under the crossbar. Gunnar Abrahamsson struck a weak shot in the 82nd minute. Benito Sanz didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Dåsens IF. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Axel Tasis managed to get in a good position for a shot. Costa Rica's supporters rose to their feet, but Axel Tasis was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Jesus Dolfo breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. When the final whistle sounded Dåsens IF left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than Costa Rica.
