In the 7th match minute, YR Mechelen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Leo Van Mechelen to maneuver through the defense. Sebastian Villa blasted a shot towards the goal in the 8th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Stanny Van Wontergem having to make a save. In the 12th minute the ball was on its way in behind YR Mechelen's goalkeeper Stanny Van Wontergem, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. After 15 played minutes YR Mechelen got a freekick which was hit by Andries Mangelschot. In the 20th match minute, YR Mechelen was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Andries Mangelschot to maneuver through the defense. The supporters of Honduras booed when YR Mechelen was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 24 match minutes in a wonderful position. Joery Van Mechelen didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Jamie Van Mechelen fell near the penalty area in the 26th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored YR Mechelen's protests and gave Jamie Van Mechelen a yellow card for diving instead. After 26 played minutes YR Mechelen got a freekick which was hit by Jamie Van Mechelen. When Edmundo Espiga came up free with the goalie in the 29th minute, the Honduras fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Edmundo Espiga couldn't finish the play. After having played for 34 minutes, Miguel Van Mechelen managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. YR Mechelen's supporters crossed their fingers, but Miguel Van Mechelen was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Miguel Van Mechelens short, quick shot in the 45thth minute got Lautaro Navarro to make great effort and bar the ball away from getting in. Lautaro Navarro was out of position in the 49 minute of play, and Miguel Van Mechelen capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Miguel Van Mechelen really showed his touch with that goal: 1-1. The fans had the chance to grab some refreshments as the whistle went for half-time. The score stood at 1-1 after a close first half.

Edmundo Espiga who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 61stth minute tested the skills of Stanny Van Wontergem when he managed to save the team from getting behind. Valentín Carvallo hit a great freekick 63 minutes into the match. 64 minutes into the game, Andries Mangelschot cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-1. Lautaro Navarro was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. Alan Wirinckx kicked well hit freekick during the 68th minute of the match. Honduras's Lautaro Navarro played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Miguel Van Mechelen in the 73rd minute of play. The audience was convinced that Edmundo Espiga's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Stanny Van Wontergem was relentless in the 78th minute of the game. Edmundo Espiga recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 79th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Miguel Van Mechelen received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 80th minute. Lautaro Navarro tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edmundo Espiga got free with Stanny Van Wontergem in the 82nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. Lautaro Navarro took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Miguel Van Mechelen, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side.
