Spectators: 42 (Terracing: 32, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) Daniel Zorita started the match with the kick off in front of an excited audience. In the 2nd minute Dragoş Zăvoiu shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. After 7 played minutes Ecuador got a freekick which was hit by Antonio Arias. ionion's Grigore Pădure couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 8th minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Ecuador. Fabio Abalos made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Daniel Zorita in the 10th minute of play. 14 minutes into the game, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Fabio Abalos made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-1. Julio Vera made an important save on a dangerous shot by Panait Oprea in the 19th minute. After taking down the ball on ionion's corner Grigore Pădure fired away a hard shot, but the defenders efficiently covered the most dangerous angles and Julio Vera quite easily take care of the ball. Fabio Abalos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 23th minute after ionion's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. Cristian Sancho recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 26th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Thanks to some nice moves Panait Oprea could shoot a difficult shot in the 28th minute, which Julio Vera however easily saved by the left post. Fabio Abalos took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Daniel Zorita, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador were awarded a corner in the 32th minute after ionion's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Daniel Zorita took the corner. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Panait Oprea in the 34th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Julio Vera saved Ecuador from getting behind. Marijan Ojdanić recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 37th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 38 minutes into the game, one of Ecuador:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. With his leg Julio Vera managed to avoid a goal in the 45thth minute, when ionion's Panait Oprea fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After 46 minutes, Niculae Moisescu mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the ionion and the Ecuador players grew even worse after the yellow card. The supporters of Ecuador booed when ionion was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 46 match minutes in a wonderful position. Niculae Moisescu didn't get a good kick on the ball. Fabio Abalos showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Daniel Zorita, who was totally free with the ball in the 48th minute.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Panait Oprea was the one to do the kick off. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Marijan Ojdanić, who was totally free with the ball in the 52nd minute. Felix Montenegro was really disappointed when he shot the ball just outside the right post instead of scoring a goal in the 56th minute. Ecuador's manager could be seen on the sidelines shaking his head and muttering to himself as his team had just wasted another chance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Julio Vera showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. Daniel Zorita's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Fabio Abalos read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 70th minute of play. Fabio Abalos showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Cristian Sancho in the 73rd minute of the match. 74 minutes into the game, Cristian Sancho cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 2-2. Fabio Abalos was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. In the 79th minute Panait Oprea shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Julio Vera saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Grigore Pădure came free in the 84th minute and tried to tip the ball over Julio Vera, but to the joy of Ecuador's supporters the ball hit the crossbar and out. After a defensive mix-up in ionion's zone, Daniel Zorita stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Fabio Abalos came out of the goal and Daniel Zorita tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Fabio Abalos made a fantastic save in the 88th minute, when Cristian Sancho sent off a good shot on target. When Cristian Sancho came up free with the goalie in the 89th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Cristian Sancho couldn't finish the play. Many of Ecuador's supporters were seen to leave the ground early as it became clear their team was going to lose. Ecuador may have spent more time on the ball, but ionion were more willing to take their chances and they walked away with the win.
