After a rather tough play, Peru's Alonso Berganza got a free kick in the 4th minute. 5 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Rickard Nilsson came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Valter Vibjörnsson made in the 7th minute of the game a throw-in that took a bad bounce and was taken care of by Peru's Eliseo Mina. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rickard Nilsson, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 17 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Niklas Bäck came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rickard Nilsson in the 22nd minute of play. Julian Murillo struck a weak shot in the 24th minute. Dick Melander didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Peru. Luz Tejedor was slow to take the kick. During this time Peru's players had a chance to rest. After fighting hard for a draw in the first half, the players were able to take a much needed rest.

When the second half was about to start, both teams quickly lined up and Niklas Bäck made a kick off. 55 minutes into the match, Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Niklas Bäck. Peru's Rolando Noboa proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 56th minute of the match, managed to save Peru from getting a goal against them. Thames Ironworks FC's Rickard Nilsson got a good chance for a goal in the 58th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The Thames Ironworks FC fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Dick Melander should have stopped the shot. Thames Ironworks FC's Dick Melander played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 68th minute of play. Niklas Bäck blasted a shot towards the goal in the 73rd minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Rolando Noboa having to make a save. Thames Ironworks FC's Dick Melander played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Julian Murillo in the 78th minute of play. With a little luck, Peru's Rolando Noboa got control of the ball when Rickard Nilsson tried to sneak it across the goal line. The throw-in from Magnus Engström in the 94th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Peru's Eliseo Mina. 95 minutes into the match, Peru's Rafael Gallo sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Dick Melander narrowly saved just below the crossbar. In the 97th minute Rafael Gallo shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dick Melander saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Rafael Gallo's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Dick Melander read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 98th minute of play. It was no surprise that this one had ended in a win for the home team. Peru had played much better football throughout.
