In the 18th match minute, Paraguay was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Hector Covarrubias to maneuver through the defense. Raul Venegas hit a great freekick 21 minutes into the match. Jacobo Nores showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Vintilă Vâlcu, who was totally free with the ball in the 22nd minute. 31 minutes into the match, Paraguay's goal looked a bit too open when Victor Angelescu came free, but Jacobo Nores reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Adrian Boștină's late challenge caught a Paraguay's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. During the 92nd minute of the match Primitivo Escribano completely mistimed his tackle and brought down his opponent. The referee gave Primitivo Escribano a yellow card, his second in the match, which meant he could no longer take part in the game. Primitivo Escribano kicked well hit freekick during the 92nd minute of the match. The throw-in from George Cârneci in the 95th minute of the game was unfortunally taken care of by Paraguay's Jaime Pardo.
