Benito Sanz was annoyed at himself for letting in the shot. A collision led to Valdieri getting a freekick after 28 minutes play. Anfilogino Di Santo hit a great ball. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Edoardo Rinaldi in the 33rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Benito Sanz saved Costa Rica from getting behind. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alfonso Aloisi in the 35th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. A collision led to Costa Rica getting a freekick after 36 minutes play. Alan Moruga hit a great ball. Through a fast twist with his body, he could stop the ball from going in on his right side. 38 minutes into the match, Valdieri's goal looked a bit too open when Lautaro Puig came free, but Alberto Andreola reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. When Alfonso Aloisi came up free with the goalie in the 40th minute, the Valdieri fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Alfonso Aloisi couldn't finish the play. In the 44th play minute Edoardo Rinaldi came free and shot an unsuspected shot which went into goal from the right pole behind a surprised Benito Sanz. 2-1. The audience thought a goal was coming when Edoardo Rinaldi got free with Benito Sanz in the 47th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. In the 48th minute Edoardo Rinaldi shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Edoardo Rinaldi was the one to do the kick off. Axel Tasis's shot when he came free in front of the goal in the 55thth minute, Alberto Andreola skillfully showed off with a save to what seemed to be an obvious goal.
