Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by 彭冰俊 in the 44th minute of play. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 46 minutes play. Camilo Gisbert hit a great ball. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-1 at half-time.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. When Daniel Zorita came up free with the goalie in the 54th minute, the Ecuador fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Daniel Zorita couldn't finish the play. Julio Vera made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from 彭冰俊 in the 58th minute of play. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling 彭冰俊 in the 61st minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 64 minutes into the match, ≮王者归来≯兵无常势水无常形's 彭冰俊 sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Julio Vera narrowly saved just below the crossbar. With a little luck, ≮王者归来≯兵无常势水无常形's 肖谦希 got control of the ball when Felix Montenegro tried to sneak it across the goal line. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a free kick in the 69th minute. 彭冰俊's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 74th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Agustín Saelices managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Agustín Saelices was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. 肖谦希 breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
