Cristian Sancho scored 0-1 in the 16th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Dong Zhen Song, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. Dong Zhen Song stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Cristian Sancho's shot from short distance in the 19th minute. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 20th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. After having played for 28 minutes, Cristian Sancho managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Ecuador's supporters crossed their fingers, but Cristian Sancho was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Raf Feys hit a great freekick 31 minutes into the match. Julio Vera stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Duran Hunalp's shot from short distance in the 33rd minute. Dong Zhen Song made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 34th minute of play. In the 36th minute, Daniel Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Antonio Arias kicked well hit freekick during the 41st minute of the match. Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 41st minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. An unexpectedly hard shot by Eriberto Oso in the 44th minute of play forced Ecuador's goalkeeper Julio Vera to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Felix Montenegro could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 64th minute of the match, but Dong Zhen Song made a huge save. Dong Zhen Song made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 68th minute. The supporters of Ecuador booed when Cabezones was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 70 match minutes in a wonderful position. Duran Hunalp didn't get a good kick on the ball. Cristian Sancho hit a great freekick 71 minutes into the match. Ecuador's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Serafino Blasco ran over to the corner to take the kick. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Duran Hunalp in the 89th minute of play. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Duran Hunalp in the 95th minute of the match. Ecuador played a much better game than Cabezones and deserved their victory. The Cabezones players were clearly disappointed as they left the ground.
