Ecuador's Julio Vera proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 30th minute of the match, managed to save Ecuador from getting a goal against them. Arturo Turner who was well placed in front of the goal fired away a dangerous shot that in the 31stth minute tested the skills of Julio Vera when he managed to save the team from getting behind. After some fancy dribbling in the 32nd minute, Agustín Saelices managed to get in a good position for a shot. Ecuador's supporters rose to their feet, but Agustín Saelices was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Gino Tonić breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Cristian Sancho fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 35th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gino Tonić having to interfere. After 47 minutes New Miran FC's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Daniel Zorita who took care of the corner kick. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Gino Tonić in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in.
The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Arturo Turner was the one to do the kick off. The supporters of Ecuador booed when New Miran FC was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 52 match minutes in a wonderful position. Álvaro Duarte didn't get a good kick on the ball.
