Nicolae Ghiorman showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Isidoro Sarmiento, who was totally free with the ball in the 3rd minute. In the 5th minute, Wictor Brovall hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Marcos Cotilla was a little too slow when Gigi Tănăsie got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 11th minute. The score was now 1-0. Isidoro Sarmiento scored 1-1 in the 15th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Nicolae Ghiorman, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. If Isidoro Sarmiento had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 20th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. 23 minutes into the match, Romeo Berceanu notched a goal, 2-1, to the right of Panama's Marcos Cotilla. Marcos Cotilla was clearly disgusted with the effort of the defense and let the defenders know about it. Nicolae Ghiorman took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Tomas Berganza, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. The audience thought a goal was coming when Wictor Brovall got free with Marcos Cotilla in the 30th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After 32 minutes, Jose Carita mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Panama and the Poli AEK players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 32nd minute, Jose Carita hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Thanks to some nice moves Wictor Brovall could shoot a difficult shot in the 33rd minute, which Marcos Cotilla however easily saved by the left post. The supporters of Panama booed when Poli AEK was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 35 match minutes in a wonderful position. Romeo Berceanu didn't get a good kick on the ball. When Abraham Alguacil came up free with the goalie in the 37th minute, the Panama fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that Abraham Alguacil couldn't finish the play. In the 39th minute the ball was on its way in behind Poli AEK's goalkeeper Nicolae Ghiorman, but with the help of a sacrificing defense, he could catch the ball at the crossbar. Panama were awarded a corner in the 40th minute after Poli AEK's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Abraham Alguacil took the corner. Panama's Tomas Berganza was first on the ball when the corner was shot and he dangerously headed the ball towards goal, but Nicolae Ghiorman in the goal jumped up to prevent it from getting in. After a rather tough play, Poli AEK's Dan Balint got a free kick in the 46th minute. Poli AEK's Nicolae Ghiorman played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Abraham Alguacil in the 48th minute of play. All the noise was coming from the home fans when the whistle went for half-time. The home team had fought hardest to put themselves in a deserved lead.
The hometeam waved at the audience when it was time for Tomas Berganza to strike the kick off in the second half. An unexpectedly hard shot by Tomas Berganza in the 52nd minute of play forced Poli AEK's goalkeeper Nicolae Ghiorman to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Abraham Alguacil received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 53rd minute. Nicolae Ghiorman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Tomas Berganza received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 60th minute. Nicolae Ghiorman tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. The supporters of Poli AEK booed when Panama was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 64 match minutes in a wonderful position. Dylan Sarmiento didn't get a good kick on the ball. 66 minutes into the game, Panama's Miguel Miralles nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Nicolae Ghiorman made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 2-2. Panama's Marcos Cotilla played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Zafer Fırat in the 71st minute of play. The corner led Poli AEK's 倪凌宁 to fire away a dangerous shot which Marcos Cotilla despite some difficulties managed to get hold on the ball. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Narcis Copil during the 77th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. 76 minutes into the game, one of Poli AEK:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. 78 minutes into the match, Abraham Alguacil had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Nicolae Ghiorman. Poli AEK's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Abraham Alguacil was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 2-3. Tomas Berganza's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Nicolae Ghiorman read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 80th minute of play. Abraham Alguacil was slow to take the kick. During this time Panama's players had a chance to rest. The corner ended in Abraham Alguacil almost managing to get the ball behind the net, but Poli AEK's Nicolae Ghiorman did a great save. The Panama players were relieved to hear the final whistle blow to end the match. The away crowd was happy to see their team win after a very tight game.
