The supporters of Sacro Balompié booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 3 match minutes in a wonderful position. Aaron Alcocer didn't get a good kick on the ball. 4 minutes into the match, Victorio Jax had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Victorio Jax was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Miguel Almiron in the 8th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. When the match had gone on for 10 minutes, Miguel Almiron put it in 0-2 from a short distance just to the right of Benito Sanz. In the 13th minute, Miguel Almiron made a precise shot to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-3. 16 minutes into the match, Miguel Almiron had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Benito Sanz. In the 31st minute Apolo Peto shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 32nd minute of the match Americo Florinio shot from a long distance. The ball could have gone into the goal to the right of the goalkeeper, but Benito Sanz showed his good shape when he easily got hold of the ball. 34 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Almiron came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. After some careless play in the Costa Rica defense, Apolo Peto kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Benito Sanz. The Costa Rica fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Benito Sanz should have stopped the shot. In the 44th minute, Miguel Almiron made a precise shot to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-7. In the 46th match minute, Sacro Balompié was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Israel Berenguer to maneuver through the defense. Luck had favoured the away team in the first, and they walked off with a 0-7 lead.

Benito Sanz made a fantastic save in the 51st minute, when Apolo Peto sent off a good shot on target. After 54 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Alexander Carballo. In the 55th minute, Aquiles Bieito made a precise shot to the right of Benito Sanz. Costa Rica's defense was at fault, and the scoreboard reflected the new score, 0-8. Benito Sanz didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Victorio Jax went, in the 61st minute, to the upper right corner, 0-9 was the resulting score. Benito Sanz made an important save on a dangerous shot by Jeremias Gaueko in the 68th minute. 69 minutes into the match, Costa Rica's goal looked a bit too open when Teobaldo Bernal came free, but Benito Sanz reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. A collision led to Sacro Balompié getting a freekick after 70 minutes play. Miguel Almiron hit a great ball. Jeremias Gaueko could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 81st minute of the match, but Benito Sanz made a huge save. Bonifacio Cedro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 85th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When Sacro Balompié's Miguel Almiron in the 87th minute got a chance for a shot 87th didn't hesitate and placed the ball to the right of the goalie. A beautiful save bye Costa Rica's goalie prevented a goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Miguel Almiron got free with Benito Sanz in the 92nd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. 95 minutes into the game, Sacro Balompié's Jeremias Gaueko nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Benito Sanz made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 0-12. Sacro Balompié's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
