Benito Sanz yelled at his defense, as they had left him out to dry. 2-0. After 19 minutes of play, Costa Rica's Eliseo Noboa made it 2-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. 潘常宇 was left in no man's land by his defense there! 张邦宁 could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 24th minute of the match, but Benito Sanz made a huge save. After 33 minutes Costa Rica's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was 唐渊笑 who took care of the corner kick. The corner went over the outstretched arms of Costa Rica's goalie and right to 沈松耀. He fired away a shot at goal, but the shot had too much spin, and it went just outside the goal. Costa Rica's manager breathed a sigh of relief on the sidelines as his team had managed to escape an almost certain goal. 唐渊笑 sent away a hard shot on goal in the 36th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by 魏乐明 in the 39th minute of play forced Costa Rica's goalkeeper Benito Sanz to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball.

The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Axel Tasis was the one to do the kick off. The Costa Rica fans' excitement grew in the 51st match minute when Costa Rica's Axel Tasis looked to have a clear shot with the ball near the goal. The shot wasn't hard, but the ball still rolled over the goal line to make it 3-2 before the goalkeeper had a chance to intervene. Alan Moruga hit a great ball. There were very few away supporters still in the ground by the end of the match.
