The crowd rose to their feet as defensa y justicia's Miguel Robinson slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Jonathan Ferrant. That made the score 1-0 after 5 minutes of play. Miguel Robinson in the 12thth minute had a little luck and got a chance for a shot in front of the goal. Without hesitation aimed to the right of Jonathan Ferrant, who managed to lunge to the right direction and made a save. Venezuela's Jonathan Ferrant played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Fabian Manuelo in the 18th minute of play. The supporters of defensa y justicia booed when Venezuela was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 19 match minutes in a wonderful position. Salvador Gisbert didn't get a good kick on the ball. After 25 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Jose Correa. Miguel Robinson could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 30th minute of the match, but Jonathan Ferrant made a huge save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Tomas Illescas in the 38th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Gualterio Roldanillo prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Nestor Ricart kicked well hit freekick during the 45th minute of the match. When the referee blew for the end of the half the home team players were clearly happier, as they went in to the break leading 1-0.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Tomas Illescas stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. In the 50th minute, Maximiliano Baladi hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. A collision led to Venezuela getting a freekick after 54 minutes play. Jose Correa hit a great ball. When Nestor Ricart fell near the penalty area in the 56th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored defensa y justicia's protests and gave Nestor Ricart a yellow card for diving instead. Jose Correa hit a great freekick 61 minutes into the match. Gualterio Roldanillo showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Patricio Costa in the 64th minute of the match. defensa y justicia's Maximiliano Baladi got a good chance for a goal in the 65th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Gualterio Roldanillo didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Tomas Illescas went, in the 67th minute, to the upper right corner, 1-1 was the resulting score. Gualterio Roldanillo showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Tomas Illescas, who was totally free with the ball in the 75th minute. 76 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Miguel Robinson came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Guillermo Mariano hit a great freekick 86 minutes into the match. In the 94th minute, one of Venezuela:s players had the ball in front of the goal but got pushed and fell. The referee felt it was an obvious case and blew a penalty for Venezuela. In the 96th minute there was a penalty for defensa y justicia. Fabian Manuelo stepped forward and shot the ball to the right of a diving Jonathan Ferrant. 2-1.
