CE LAJEADENSE RS's Waldir da Mata played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Edmundo Espiga in the 25th minute of play. The crowd rose to their feet as Honduras's Luca Espinar slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Waldir da Mata. That made the score 1-0 after 26 minutes of play. Moises Tafalla struck a weak shot in the 33rd minute. Waldir da Mata didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Honduras. Honduras's Edmundo Espiga got a good chance for a goal in the 35th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Váldson Berger was the one to do the kick off. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Edmundo Espiga in the 60th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Waldir da Mata prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Edmundo Espiga received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 62nd minute. Waldir da Mata tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere.
