Luca Zorita struck a weak shot in the 8th minute. Waldo Helton didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. In the 8th minute, Luca Zorita got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. Flame Throwers's Waldo Helton proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 14th minute of the match, managed to save Flame Throwers from getting a goal against them. 15 minutes into the match, Flame Throwers's goalkeeper Waldo Helton had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Lautaro Mancebo. An unexpectedly hard shot by Joel Gaona in the 19th minute of play forced Flame Throwers's goalkeeper Waldo Helton to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Lautaro Mancebo could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 22nd minute of the match, but Waldo Helton made a huge save. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Joel Gaona in the 23rd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Waldo Helton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. After 25 minutes of play, Mexico's Joel Gaona made it 1-0 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Waldo Helton was left in no man's land by his defense there! Lautaro Mancebo didn't miss a given chance and shot in short distance 2-0 via right post in the game's 28th minute. Mexico's supporters showed their exhuberating excitement! After 30 minutes, Dillon Galindo mouthed his way into the referee's book. The tension between the Flame Throwers and the Mexico players grew even worse after the yellow card. In the 35th minute Joel Gaona shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waldo Helton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Lautaro Mancebo received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 40th minute. Waldo Helton tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Waldo Helton showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 43rd minute of the match. Flame Throwers's Waldo Helton proved his good apprehension of play when he, in the 45th minute of the match, managed to save Flame Throwers from getting a goal against them. Af the end of the first half the score was 2-0. The first half had gone as expected for the home team.

The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Reinaldo McCormick stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. Mexico's Joel Gaona got a good chance for a goal in the 51st minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. After some fancy dribbling in the 53rd minute, Joel Gaona managed to get in a good position for a shot. Mexico's supporters rose to their feet, but Joel Gaona was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Waldo Helton breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. 56 minutes into the game, Mexico's Joel Gaona nearly tore a hole in the net with a booming shot. Waldo Helton made a valiant effort, but he could not reach the ball in time, 3-0. Waldo Helton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lautaro Mancebo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 62nd minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Waldo Helton saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Mexico were awarded a corner in the 63th minute after Flame Throwers's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Joel Gaona took the corner. An unexpectedly hard shot by Reinaldo McCormick in the 68th minute of play forced Mexico's goalkeeper Dante Lacasa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Theron Milligan hit a great freekick 74 minutes into the match. After some careless play in the Flame Throwers defense, Alberto Tafalla kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Waldo Helton. The Flame Throwers fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Waldo Helton should have stopped the shot. Waldo Helton showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Joel Gaona, who was totally free with the ball in the 80th minute. In the 81st minute Scotty Dietz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Waldo Helton took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Lautaro Mancebo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. In the 84th minute of the match Mexico got a corner. Flame Throwers's goalie ran out to the linesman to protest the call, but the linesman resolutely pointed his flag at the cornerflag. Joel Gaona ran over to the corner to take the kick. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Waldo Helton prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Waldo Helton made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Joel Gaona in the 89th minute of play. Lautaro Mancebo fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 90th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Waldo Helton having to interfere. A collision led to Mexico getting a freekick after 92 minutes play. Facundo Cadaval hit a great ball. The referee blew his whistle, and the match came to a close. The players exchanged shirts and headed down the tunnel. The Mexico fans cheered their team off the field, for while Flame Throwers had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
