The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Dante Lacasa made a fantastic save in the 9th minute, when Caetano Saad sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Luca Zorita in the 12th minute of play forced CE LAJEADENSE RS's goalkeeper Christian Orlan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Christian Orlan made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Alberto Tafalla in the 14th minute of play. Mexico's attacker deliberately struck the ball against an opponent to win a corner for his team. The corner was taken by Joel Gaona in the 15th minute. It was a well-played corner which Luca Zorita managed to volley towards the net. Unfortunately, he didn't get a great hit on the ball and it went out into the grandstand. 18 minutes into the match, Lautaro Mancebo had an open shot that he just couldn't miss and scored to the right of Christian Orlan. CE LAJEADENSE RS's manager could be seen yelling to the referee that Lautaro Mancebo was offside, but the referee ignored the protest. 0-1. Mexico's Dante Lacasa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Udo Nigula in the 23rd minute of play. Christian Orlan showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Joel Gaona in the 24th minute of the match. Alberto Tafalla struck a weak shot in the 26th minute. Christian Orlan didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Mexico. Mexico's Felix Luque quite brazenly broke a throw-in by Udo Nigula, made in the 39th minute of the game. In the 43rd minute, Alberto Tafalla ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Christian Orlan was frozen by the shot and now it was 0-2. In the 47th minute Alberto Tafalla shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christian Orlan saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. The CE LAJEADENSE RS players were disheartened as they walked off the pitch after the first half. Mexico were winning 0-2.

CE LAJEADENSE RS made a substitution. Renato Quadros replaced Jorge Pires. The players of the home team were most fresh-looking when they entered the field to play the second half. Joel Gaona was the one to do the kick off. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 55th minute of play forced CE LAJEADENSE RS's goalkeeper Christian Orlan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 56th minute, Lorenzo Cazalla hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. Leo Iigo took a chance and fired a shot far from the goal in the 57th minute, but it turned out to be a dangerous situation for Dante Lacasa. Mexico's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Dante Lacasa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Udo Nigula, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. An unexpectedly hard shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 65th minute of play forced CE LAJEADENSE RS's goalkeeper Christian Orlan to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. In the 74th minute, Rodrigo Ely hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. CE LAJEADENSE RS's Bater Palma was substituted for Udo Nigula. After 77 played minutes Mexico got a freekick which was hit by Felix Luque. The audience thought a goal was coming when Alberto Tafalla got free with Christian Orlan in the 85th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. CE LAJEADENSE RS's Christian Orlan played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Alberto Tafalla in the 87th minute of play. After a rather tough play, CE LAJEADENSE RS's Renato Quadros got a free kick in the 89th minute. In the 91st minute Bater Palma shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 94th match minute, CE LAJEADENSE RS was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Anísio Koehler to maneuver through the defense. Dante Lacasa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Leo Iigo, who was totally free with the ball in the 97th minute. Mexico's players went to the stands to thank the travelling support. The fan's backing had helped spurr the team on to a fine performance that won them the match.
