Romeo Passi made in the 76th minute of the game a fairly good throw-in which was taken care of by Esequiel Dohrmann. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from René Puente in the 78th minute of play. Through an outstanding action, after 84 minutes, José Luis Chilavert successfully got his hands on the ball before it slid into the goal at the right post. José Luis Chilavert made a fantastic save in the 89th minute, when Julian Murillo sent off a good shot on target. An unexpectedly hard shot by Julian Murillo in the 92nd minute of play forced Ballet Azul's goalkeeper José Luis Chilavert to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The audience thought a goal was coming when Julian Murillo got free with José Luis Chilavert in the 93rd minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Peru walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
