Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. Baltazar Luz came out and tried to block the shot, but Tomas Illescas slotted it home off the left post making it 1-0 in the 23rd minute. In the 25th match minute, A.C. Renascença was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfredão Silva to maneuver through the defense. In the 29th minute, Patricio Costa fired away a killer shot towards the goal that, to the delight of Baltazar Luz, passed just outside the right post. With his leg Baltazar Luz managed to avoid a goal in the 31stth minute, when Venezuela's Tomas Illescas fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. After a defensive mix-up in A.C. Renascença's zone, Tomas Illescas stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Baltazar Luz came out of the goal and Tomas Illescas tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Tomas Illescas during the 36th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After having played for 38 minutes, Patricio Costa managed to get in a good position for a shot on goal. Venezuela's supporters crossed their fingers, but Patricio Costa was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Jonathan Ferrant made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Rufino Rengifo in the 40th minute of play. After 41 minutes of play, A.C. Renascença's Rufino Rengifo made it 1-1 when he simply outclassed the defender marking him and hit a curling shot into the right side of the net. Jonathan Ferrant was left in no man's land by his defense there! The score stood at 1-1 when the half time whistle went. Both sets of players seemed reasonably pleased with how the match was going.

52 minutes into the match, Venezuela's goal looked a bit too open when Rufino Rengifo came free, but Jonathan Ferrant reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After 57 played minutes Venezuela got a freekick which was hit by Camilo Gaos. Alfredão Silva's late challenge caught a Venezuela's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Alfredão Silva helped the player get up and apologised. In the 62nd match minute, A.C. Renascença was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Alfredão Silva to maneuver through the defense. An unexpectedly hard shot by Patricio Costa in the 63rd minute of play forced A.C. Renascença's Shao Xiang Bing got a free kick in the 70th minute. A.C. Renascença's Samuel Cosme was substituted for Ciriaco George. Shao Xiang Bing kicked well hit freekick during the 71st minute of the match. Jonathan Ferrant made an important save on a dangerous shot by Samuel Cosme in the 85th minute. After some fancy dribbling in the 88th minute, Tomas Illescas managed to get in a good position for a shot. Venezuela's supporters rose to their feet, but Tomas Illescas was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Baltazar Luz breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick. Patricio Costa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 96th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Baltazar Luz having to interfere. Venezuela's fans were exulted and cheered after their team won in a match that could easily have gone the other way.
