The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Ozan Heybetli in the 3rd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Yao Bin Yun saved Fundação Marques dos Reis from getting behind. Yao Bin Yun showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Ozan Heybetli, who was totally free with the ball in the 4th minute. Sixten Tunander showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Juninho Pernambucano, who was totally free with the ball in the 6th minute. In the 8th minute, FC Hammarby Sjöstad's Ozan Heybetli ran free of his marker and smoothly shot the ball into the goal behind Yao Bin Yun. Yao Bin Yun made an important save on a dangerous shot by Ozan Heybetli in the 20th minute. Ozan Heybetli recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 23rd minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. 26 minutes had been played when some careless play by Fundação Marques dos Reis's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Sarracino De la Rosa was slow to take the kick. During this time FC Hammarby Sjöstad's players had a chance to rest. A well-hit corner resulted in Lenny Winnepennincks heading the ball towards the goal, but to his dismay he misdirected it and missed the goal completely. 28 minutes into the match, FC Hammarby Sjöstad's goal looked a bit too open when Taras Romanchuk came free, but Sixten Tunander reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Fundação Marques dos Reis were awarded a corner in the 30th minute after FC Hammarby Sjöstad's defender lost control of the ball, allowing it to roll out over the line. Wesly Goemyne took the corner. A nice corner shot did that Wesly Goemyne got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Sixten Tunander quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. Ozan Heybetli kicked well hit freekick during the 31st minute of the match. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Taras Romanchuk in the 32nd minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Sixten Tunander prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Sixten Tunander made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Juninho Pernambucano in the 34th minute of play. In the 35th match minute, FC Hammarby Sjöstad was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Rolf Waller to maneuver through the defense. Sarracino De la Rosa could have scored with his fast shot on goal in the 39th minute of the match, but Yao Bin Yun made a huge save. The supporters of FC Hammarby Sjöstad booed when Fundação Marques dos Reis was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 41 match minutes in a wonderful position. Tiago Ferreira didn't get a good kick on the ball. Ozan Heybetli's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Yao Bin Yun read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 44th minute of play. Filipe Viveiros fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 46th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Sixten Tunander having to interfere. The away team players looked dejected as the walked off the pitch at half time. They had fought hard, but were still losing 2-0.
Sixten Tunander was out of position in the 51 minute of play, and Taras Romanchuk capitalized on the mistake with a soft shot into the goal. Taras Romanchuk really showed his touch with that goal: 2-1. An unexpectedly hard shot by Taras Romanchuk in the 56th minute of play forced FC Hammarby Sjöstad's goalkeeper Sixten Tunander to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. The FC Hammarby Sjöstad fans cheered their team off the field, for while Fundação Marques dos Reis had put up a good fight, they were unable to come out of the game with any points to show for their effort.
