Bruno Renan took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Cristian Sancho, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ecuador's Julio Vera played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Marcinho Mineiro in the 54th minute of play. The Ecuador fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Julio Vera should have stopped the shot. 87 minutes into the match, Florestal Futebol Clube's goalkeeper Bruno Renan had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felix Montes. When Felix Montenegro fell near the penalty area in the 88th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Ecuador's protests and gave Felix Montenegro a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, Ecuador's Felix Montenegro got a free kick in the 88th minute.
