The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. Enrique Abreu hit a great freekick 5 minutes into the match. When Jânio Arantes fell near the penalty area in the 6th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored Agua Santa's protests and gave Jânio Arantes a yellow card for diving instead. In the 6th minute, Jânio Arantes hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. In the 7th minute of the match Waldemar Ramos sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tomé Mota skillfully saved the ball. In the 10th match minute, Agua Santa was awarded a freekick, the ball was picked up by Dedê Mendes to maneuver through the defense. In the 11th minute Vivaldo Munhoz shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomé Mota saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Agua Santa's Tomé Mota played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Agostinho Borges in the 13th minute of play. Tomé Mota took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Vivaldo Munhoz, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Goblins F.C.'s defense didn't have a chance, in the 21st minute, when Dedê Mendes scored to the left of an out of position Arnaldo de Carvalho, making the score, 1-0. After 26 played minutes Agua Santa got a freekick which was hit by Rafael Cruz. In the 27th minute of the match Waldemar Ramos sent off a long shot with destination to the right of the goalkeeper, but Tomé Mota skillfully saved the ball. In the 34th minute Zé Pedro Mendes shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Tomé Mota saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Zé Pedro Mendes in the 35th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Tomé Mota prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Tomé Mota made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Zé Pedro Mendes in the 36th minute of play. 45 minutes into the match, Goblins F.C.'s goalkeeper Arnaldo de Carvalho had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Dedê Mendes. The home fans were very happy to see their team leading 1-0 at half-time.

The wind increased when Frank Rosa made the kick off in the second half. After 63 played minutes Goblins F.C. got a freekick which was hit by Waldemar Ramos. Agua Santa made a substitution. William Luz replaced Fábio Lopez. In the 64th minute, Waldemar Ramos hit a crossing free kick to the open man running down the field. After a rather tough play, Agua Santa's Jânio Arantes got a free kick in the 66th minute. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Enrique Abreu in the 68th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Arnaldo de Carvalho prevented the ball from getting in the gole. 80 minutes into the match, Goblins F.C.'s goal looked a bit too open when Frank Rosa came free, but Arnaldo de Carvalho reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. Arnaldo de Carvalho took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Frank Rosa, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. With a little luck, Agua Santa's Tomé Mota got control of the ball when Zé Pedro Mendes tried to sneak it across the goal line. The supporters of Goblins F.C. booed when Agua Santa was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 92 match minutes in a wonderful position. Rafael Cruz didn't get a good kick on the ball. Goblins F.C.'s Waldemar Ramos couldn't find anyone to pass the ball to, so he shot a long shot towards the goal in the 92nd minute. The shot went wide which resulted in a goal kick for Agua Santa. After some fancy dribbling in the 95th minute, Tiago Cosme managed to get in a good position for a shot. Agua Santa's supporters rose to their feet, but Tiago Cosme was a bit off balance and shot the ball just wide of the left post. Arnaldo de Carvalho breathed a sigh of relief and went to take the goal kick.
