After 22 played minutes Costa Rica got a freekick which was hit by Efrain Moruga. Sören Dalström received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 27th minute. Benito Sanz tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Sören Dalström recieved an excellent pass in front of the goal in the 29th minute. Unfortunately, he received the ball on his off foot and could only manage a weak shot that went over the goal. In the 30th minute John Bennet shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Benito Sanz saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gandalfs Fc's Sören Dalström got a good chance for a goal in the 37th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. 40 minutes into the game, John Bennet cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 0-2. Benito Sanz was not in position, and could only watch the ball fly in. The crowd was extremely unhappy with the home team's performance in the first half. They were losing 0-2.

The audience was convinced that Axel Tasis's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Christian Byström was relentless in the 51st minute of the game. In the 54th minute Axel Tasis shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Christian Byström saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. John Bennet blasted a shot towards the goal in the 67th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Benito Sanz having to make a save. Sören Dalström took the ball and in the 67 minute, shot a rapid shot to the right of a surprised Benito Sanz. Benito Sanz dived to the right, and did manage to get a hand on the shot, but it still went into the right corner making it 0-3. When John Bennet came up free with the goalie in the 72nd minute, the Gandalfs Fc fans jumped to their feet. But the shot missed the goal by a fraction of an inch, and the fans sat back down disappointed that John Bennet couldn't finish the play. The supporters of Gandalfs Fc booed when Costa Rica was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 75 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lautaro Puig didn't get a good kick on the ball.
