The audience was convinced that Agustín Saelices's extremely hard shot when he got free in front of the goal was going in, but Eliot Pfingst was relentless in the 12th minute of the game. Southern Thrashers's goalkeeper really had to stretch himself to stop the ball from crossing the goal line. Thanks to some nice foot action and superb ball handling Cai Inestrosa in the 39th minute a chance for a shot on goal. With an extended leg and a bit of luck Julio Vera prevented the ball from getting in the gole. Southern Thrashers's Eliot Pfingst played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Daniel Zorita in the 45th minute of play. 46 minutes had been played when some careless play by Southern Thrashers's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Daniel Zorita was slow to take the kick. During this time Ecuador's players had a chance to rest. The corner led to Ecuador's Luis Andino getting away a dangerous shot that went just outside the goal. 48 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Nurkan Salah came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. After the first half the score was level. The break gave the players a chance to catch their breath, whilst the managers went over the tactics with them again.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Cai Inestrosa to make the kick off. Cai Inestrosa fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 53rd minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Julio Vera having to interfere. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cai Inestrosa, who was totally free with the ball in the 55th minute. Antonio Arias kicked well hit freekick during the 56th minute of the match. Angelino Ospin blasted a shot towards the goal in the 56th minute, but the shot hit the top of the crossbar and went out without Julio Vera having to make a save. Eliot Pfingst made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Cristian Sancho in the 59th minute of play. After some fancy dribbling in the 60th minute, Felix Montenegro managed to get in a good position for a shot. Southern Thrashers's Jackson Millgate quickly snatched the ball and retained possesion. In the 69th minute, Luis Andino left the goalkeeper for dead before tapping the ball into the right side of the net. The Ecuador fans were clearly happy with the effort and the scoreboard reflected the new score: 0-1. Eliot Pfingst made a fantastic save in the 79th minute, when Daniel Zorita sent off a good shot on target. Southern Thrashers's Eliot Pfingst played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 80th minute of play. After 89 played minutes Southern Thrashers got a freekick which was hit by Bleyd Dorrell. 90 minutes into the game, one of Southern Thrashers:s players got tackled near the goal, and the referee blew for a penalty. Cristian Sancho scored 0-3 in the 96th match minute with a shot that went into the goal to the right of Eliot Pfingst, who was just a little too slow in reacting to the shot. 98 minutes into the match, Ecuador's Cristian Sancho sent off a blazing shot straight on target, a shot that Eliot Pfingst narrowly saved just below the crossbar. Ecuador's fans were overjoyed with their teams well-earned victory and stayed in the stadium long after the final whistle to celebrate the win.
