In the 82nd minute, Velasco Rollan ran past the defenders and hit a shot which went straight ahead into goal. Dante Lacasa was frozen by the shot and now it was 2-2. Joel Gaona fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 85th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Gianluigi Buffon having to interfere. Alberto Tafalla received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 87th minute. Gianluigi Buffon tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. In the 89th minute Felix Larren shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Dante Lacasa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Gianluigi Buffon made a fantastic save in the 93rd minute, when Lautaro Mancebo sent off a good shot on target. Mexico were unable to convert their possession into goals, allowing Sociedad Anónima to leave the ground with a draw.
