The wind increased when Tomas Illescas made the kick off in the second half. Giovanni Pena showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Tomas Illescas in the 51st minute of the match. Tomas Illescas fired away a screaming shot towards the goal in the 70th minute, but the shot went just over the crossbar without Giovanni Pena having to interfere. Giovanni Pena stood for a superb save when he managed to get hold of Tomas Illescas's shot from short distance in the 74th minute. The referee was alert and spotted a serious foul by Sandro de Barros during the 75th minute. The player immediately received a yellow card. After a rather tough play, Júbilo Iwata's Sandro de Barros got a free kick in the 75th minute. A hard shot 77 in the game by Ivan Xabier from a close distance when the talented Jonathan Ferrant managed to make a qualified save. Venezuela's players were relieved.
