Battle of death
Spectators: 45 (Terracing: 35, Seating: 10, VIP seats: 0) The field was rather wet after several days of rain when Martín Ulloa took the kick off in the first half of the match. When Ren Peng Fei fell near the penalty area in the 4th minute he thought he would be awarded a free kick. The referee ignored ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s protests and gave Ren Peng Fei a yellow card for diving instead. After a rather tough play, ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s Ren Peng Fei got a free kick in the 4th minute. Ecuador's Cristian Sancho got a good chance for a goal in the 8th minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. If Daniel Zorita had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 14th minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. Juan Benavides came out of the goal in the 15th minute to try and stop a shot by Ecuador's Agustín Saelices. But to his dismay, Agustín Saelices quickly shot the ball in between his legs and into the goal making it 0-1. Julio Vera took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Humberto Escobar, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. 20 minutes had been played when some careless play by Ecuador's defense caused the ball to cross the line for a corner. Giancarlo Mora was slow to take the kick. During this time ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s players had a chance to rest. A nice corner shot did that Guillermo Escalona got away a dangerous shot. Despite this Julio Vera quite easily got ahold of the ball to make the save. In the 22nd minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Juan Benavides saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. In the 37th minute, Luis Andino got an opportunity to score, but he didn't get a solid hit on the ball and ended up kicking it wide of the goal. The audience thought a goal was coming when Humberto Escobar got free with Julio Vera in the 39th minute, but the goalkeeper managed to catch the ball with a huge effort. After a rather tough play, ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s Nelsinho Nóbrega got a free kick in the 40th minute. Juan Benavides showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Cristian Sancho, who was totally free with the ball in the 41st minute. A collision led to Ecuador getting a freekick after 43 minutes play. Luis Andino hit a great ball.

Both teams looked relatively alert before the second half when the referee blew his whistle to tell Daniel Zorita to make the kick off. 53 minutes into the match, ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s goalkeeper Juan Benavides had to clear away a ball on his right side after a cunning shot by Felix Montenegro. Juan Benavides was a little too slow when Felix Montenegro got a fine hit on the ball which went right into the goal in the 53rd minute. The score was now 0-2. Felix Montenegro sent away a hard shot on goal in the 58th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. An unexpectedly hard shot by Cristian Sancho in the 59th minute of play forced ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s goalkeeper Juan Benavides to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Daniel Zorita came free with the goalkeeper in the 61st minute of the match, and shot straight on target. The shot was a little too simple and Juan Benavides could save by the left post. Nelsinho Nóbrega's late challenge caught a Ecuador's player on the shin and left him crawling around in pain. The referee blew his whistle and produced the yellow card. Nelsinho Nóbrega helped the player get up and apologised. After 64 played minutes ►Las Mercedes F.C◄ got a freekick which was hit by Nelsinho Nóbrega. Agustín Saelices sent away a hard shot on goal in the 65th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Daniel Zorita struck a weak shot in the 67th minute. Juan Benavides didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Martín Ulloa in the 73rd minute of the match. Guillermo Escalona's shot was meant for the net just under the crossbar, but Julio Vera read the situation well and was quickly in position to make a wonderful save in the 77th minute of play. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Cristian Sancho in the 79th managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Juan Benavides saved ►Las Mercedes F.C◄ from getting behind. ►Las Mercedes F.C◄'s Juan Benavides played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 81st minute of play. Agustín Saelices hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Humberto Escobar, who was totally free with the ball in the 91st minute. Ecuador's Daniel Zorita got a good chance for a goal in the 92nd minute, but he totally mistimed the shot and it went over the crossbar. Daniel Zorita sent away a hard shot on goal in the 94th minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. When the final whistle sounded Ecuador left the ground with the victory after a much better performance than ►Las Mercedes F.C◄.
