A sloppy throw-in by Virgil Oargă in the 3rd minute of the game went astray and was snapped up by Peru's Eliseo Mina. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Shi Ming Sheng in the 13th minute of the match. After a defensive mix-up in Stiinta-Univ.'s zone, Eliseo Mina stole the ball and had only the goalie to beat. Martin Crețu came out of the goal and Eliseo Mina tried to chip the ball over his head. To his dismay, the ball went over the crossbar and out of play. Anthony Alvarado hit a great freekick 19 minutes into the match. An unexpectedly hard shot by Shi Ming Sheng in the 22nd minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Shi Ming Sheng, who was totally free with the ball in the 28th minute. Rolando Noboa took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Aurel Panait, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Eliseo Mina received a nice pass in the box and took a hard shot in the 38th minute. Martin Crețu tensed up and prepared to dive, but the shot went over the goal with him having to interfere. Stiinta-Univ.'s Valeriu Morovan was substituted for Okan Koc. The players of the away team seemed most concentrated when Julian Murillo stepped up to make the kick off in the second half. The crowd rose to their feet as Peru's Julian Murillo slotted home a wonderful shot that went in to the left of Martin Crețu. That made the score 0-1 after 73 minutes of play. In the 81st minute Valeriu Morovan shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Rolando Noboa saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Shi Ming Sheng in the 82nd minute of play. Martin Crețu took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafael Gallo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Șerban Rușanu hit a great freekick 90 minutes into the match. The away crowd were delighted with the way their team had played and cheered loudly when the final whistle sounded. Peru walked away with the win, even though the match was close until the end.
