The crowd had been anticipating this game for weeks and the excitement in the stadium was easily visible. In the 16th minute Daniel Zorita shot on, it seemed, an open goal, but Richard Textex saw the ball coming and threw himself on it before it passed the goal line. Newpi Academy's Richard Textex played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Cristian Sancho in the 17th minute of play. After a rather tough play, Newpi Academy's Conrado Maore got a free kick in the 18th minute. In the 19th minute, a hard, long distance shot from Daniel Zorita hit the top of the crossbar and flew over the goal. An unexpectedly hard shot by Felix Montenegro in the 22nd minute of play forced Newpi Academy's goalkeeper Richard Textex to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. 26 minutes into the match, Ecuador's goal looked a bit too open when Alberto Tonete came free, but Julio Vera reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. The Newpi Academy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Richard Textex should have stopped the shot. If Gavino Lauren had kept his shot down it would have been a goal in the 42nd minute. The ball went over the crossbar and out instead. After some careless play in the Newpi Academy defense, Cristian Sancho kicked a shot that curved into the net to the right of Richard Textex. The Newpi Academy fans voiced their displeasure as they felt that Richard Textex should have stopped the shot. After the first half Ecuador were leading 0-3. They had played with great self confidence throughout the first half and fully deserved their lead.

The wind increased when Daniel Zorita made the kick off in the second half. With his leg Richard Textex managed to avoid a goal in the 54thth minute, when Ecuador's Daniel Zorita fired away a shot with a lot of spin towards his right hand side. 54 minutes into the game, Daniel Zorita lined in a short shot 0-4 behind a frustrated Richard Textex. Richard Textex made an important save on a dangerous shot by Daniel Zorita in the 60th minute. With a little luck, Newpi Academy's Richard Textex got control of the ball when Daniel Zorita tried to sneak it across the goal line. Julio Vera showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Alberto Tonete in the 69th minute of the match. Richard Textex didn't even have to move as the ball rolled over the line well wide of the goal. A wasted opportunity for Ecuador. Cristian Sancho sent away a hard shot on goal in the 91st minute, but the ball went just over the crossbar and out. A very good chance. Julio Vera showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Alberto Tonete, who was totally free with the ball in the 94th minute.
