With a little luck, USA's Marco Day got control of the ball when Judas Verón tried to sneak it across the goal line. The referee saw this and, surprisingly, showed Eustaquio Fortun the red card, dismissing him from the pitch. The coaching staff of Belgrano de Pibasog protested bitterly, but the referee would have none of it, and Eustaquio Fortun had no choice but to slowly walk off the pitch. The referee blew the whistle for a penalty in the 47th minute of the game. One of Belgrano de Pibasog:s players had nearly got his shirt torn off by an opponent while getting free in front of USA:s goal. 49 minutes into the game, Cassius Byrne cracked a shot to the right of the goalkeeper, 3-4. When the match was over USA could go home with a victory in their luggage, having controlled the game far better than Belgrano de Pibasog throughout the match.
