Peru's supporters crossed their fingers, but Milagros Fraga was, after a quick turn that froze the defenders, out of balance and shot the ball just to the right of the goal. Peru's Rolando Noboa played magnificently when he managed to stop the ball from hitting the goal, after a sharp shot by Mauro Boselli in the 16th minute of play. After 20 minutes Peru's defender was forced to head the ball over the line for a corner. It was Gaspar Ihazintu who took care of the corner kick. The supporters of Peru booed when Shuspendemo was adjudged a doubtful freekick after 21 match minutes in a wonderful position. Lucas Rivas didn't get a good kick on the ball. Joaquin Prats hit a great freekick 28 minutes into the match. Rolando Noboa showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Mauro Boselli, who was totally free with the ball in the 29th minute. 29 minutes into the match, Peru's goal looked a bit too open when Mauro Boselli came free, but Rolando Noboa reached the ball before it rolled over the goal line. An unexpectedly hard shot by Venancio Kepa in the 31st minute of play forced Peru's goalkeeper Rolando Noboa to throw himself to the left, to be able to save the ball. Ismael Vellito didn't have a chance when a screaming shot from Julian Murillo went, in the 34th minute, to the upper right corner, 2-0 was the resulting score. No-one was surprised that the home team were leading 2-0 at half-time.

Ismael Vellito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Eliseo Alcocer, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Ismael Vellito showed his good apprehension of the play when he made a fantastic save on a shot from Eliseo Alcocer, who was totally free with the ball in the 70th minute. Enrique Silban hit a great freekick 72 minutes into the match. Peru's attentive Eliseo Mina managed to snatch the ball when Lucas Rivas made a throw-in in the 78th minute of the game. Rolando Noboa showed brilliant goalkeeper skills when he caught the ball after a hard shot from Réda Kolb in the 81st minute of the match. With a couple of smart ball manuevers Julian Murillo in the 82nd managed to get into a good position. With a left leg Ismael Vellito saved Shuspendemo from getting behind. Rolando Noboa made a wonderful reflex save on a shot from Réda Kolb in the 84th minute of play. 89 minutes into the game, Enrique Silban was given a yellow card after he appeared to trip an opposing player. Shuspendemo's manager was livid on the sidelines, but the referee was unmoved and gave Peru the free kick. After a rather tough play, Shuspendemo's Enrique Silban got a free kick in the 90th minute. Ismael Vellito took care of the ball after a well-directed shot from Rafael Gallo, even though the ball almost passed him on his left side. Lucas Rivas made in the 95th minute of the game a quick throw-in and Venancio Kepa immediately put the ball in play.
